...I live in a constant state of "radical amazement" that I have been rabbi of this synagogue for almost 40 years.

I have named babies who I then Bar/Bat Mitzvahed, then married and then named their babies! And everything in between... the bitter, the sweet.

I am privileged to have families from every religion, race, lifestyle... Hindu, Muslim, Christian, families from Asia, South America, Africa... even Jewish families from Brooklyn. Many of the families who brought me here in 1972 are still here... they created the culture of this congregation... to respect all people, to study and pray with integrity, to be loyal to the Jewish people and Jewish ideals, to transform ourselves continually to become better human beings.

What matters most? The life cycle... sharing the most intense, special, joyous, tragic moments... knowing that no matter what happens we will connect... for newer members, the first time... for older members, many more.

What matters most? That we share the same story,... even if we hear it differently. A story. My story. Your story. Our story.
