Parent Activities
We encourage and depend upon the participation and involvement of you, our parent group. You are always welcome to visit class, read a story, share an interest, or lend a hand. Volunteers are needed to help with many activities – please let us know of your availablity.
The nursery school's Parent Committee is actually comprised of all nursery school parents. Each class designates one or two specific "class parents", individuals who volunteer to coordinate activities along with our chairpersons and teachers.
The Parent Committee contributes to the coordination of many important activities and events at our school. We have also enclosed their introductory letter in this folder to give more details of these events, which include: Shabbat-to-Go, Scholastic Book Club, Logowear, Tzedakah Kids Committee, parent parties and discussion groups. We hope that you will be interested in being a class parent, and participate in Parent Committee activities. The first event for parents and caregivers is a Welcome Coffee on Friday, September 23, 2011 at arrival time in the Temple lobby, and the ending group event is a Thank You Coffee on Friday, June 1, 2012. Please refer to the Parent Committee Newsletter for currently planned events, and mark your calendars for the Parent Holiday Cocktail Party on Saturday, November 5 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.!
Parents and Caregivers are encouraged to make use of our Parent Resource Room (aka coatroom) stocked with books, journals and magazines. This room is available for you to utilize if you arrive early for school, and while you wait for the children. Coffee and tea will be offered outside this room during the phase-in period. You are also welcome to explore the Temple Children’s Library, located in this room. We are proud to have organized an early childhood section for your children. Books may be borrowed for children of all ages.
Each week, parents will receive both a school and a class newsletter to inform you of our weekly goings-on, and upcoming events. We also keep you posted with family magazines and articles (remember to check your mailbags), and look for notices of interest posted on our bulletin boards in the Parent Resource Room and downstairs hallway. Parent education discussion groups are scheduled throughout the year, both during school hours and in the evening. We also love when you schedule a time to share a story or activity with the class. Feel free to schedule this with your teachers.
