Shabbat

Every Friday, the children celebrate Shabbat in their classrooms -- the teachers light candles and together the children recite the Blessings and enjoy challah with their snack. Following snack, either in the classroom or together in the sanctuary, we will sing songs accompanied by Cantor Robin on her guitar. The Rabbi and Laurette will often join us, along with other Temple staff. Parents have an open invitation to join our Shabbat celebrations, once phasing-in is completed. Just let the teachers know when you would like to attend. It is a great time to read a book to your child's class and learn the songs that we sing to celebrate this weekly holiday. Beginning in October, families also have the opportunity to sign-up for “Shabbat-to-Go” and bring home a laminated copy of the prayers, and a fresh challah and candles each week.

Shabbat Family Services, for children of all ages, are scheduled on the first Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. We hope you will attend! We are also planning special TOT Shabbat events for our pre-schoolers from 6:15-7:00 p.m. on October 28, 2011; December 16, 2011; January 20, 2012 and March 23, 2012. Mark your calendars!
