Temple Beth Shalom has created a learning environment that is developmentally appropriate and noncompetitive. Our program leads each of our students to a positive identification with the Jewish tradition. With respect for every student’s learning style, and by placing students with their proper teachers and high school assistants, Judy Michael, Executive Director of Education and Programming, and our religious school staff create a safe yet challenging learning experience for our children.

Our religious school curriculum focuses on the Biblical narratives, Jewish history and liturgical Hebrew. Of course, Shabbat and Jewish holidays, Jewish music and arts, and current events are all included in our educational programs. With the expansion of Jewish publishing, a wide variety of books and teaching materials are used to develop the curriculum for each grade. Each Sunday School session concludes with a special assembly to which parents and siblings are invited.

In addition to the formal program, we have youth activities, a teacher assistant program, a high school dinner and discussion group, elective classes for 5th and 6th grade students who want to study Torah, the seventh grade "Kol Koreh, Kol Nishmah," and eighth grade "Chavura."
