“Today, the world is born anew,” says our Rosh Hashanah prayer book. The High Holidays are indeed a time of renewal — renewing our connection to one another, and renewing our commitment to bring out the best in ourselves and in our world. We look forward to gathering with you!
Below please find information about our holiday service schedules, as well as babysitting sign up, ushering, related programs, and tzedakah opportunities.

For members needing special accommodations to participate in services — including large-print prayer books, assisted listening devices, wheelchair accessibility, or anything else — please contact our office so we can be of best assistance.
Open to Congregants

Please click here to RSVP for babysitting on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur morning services. Due to a high response rate, and based on space and staffing limitations, we unfortunately cannot accept “walk ins”.

Youth Shofar Ensemble Rehearsal
Sunday, September 14. 10:30-11:00am & Sunday, September 21, 10:30-11:00am
Learn how to sound the shofar, and join our ensemble of shofar blasters at Family and Tot Services on the High Holidays! Contact Cantor Robin Joseph for more information.
Rooted / Metro-wide Volunteer Day
Sunday, September 21, 10-2pm
Please join us and many local communities participating in a pre-Rosh Hashanah cleanup of outdoor trials in our area. Rooted is a metro-wide volunteer day for the Earth taking place Sunday, September 21—the day before Rosh Hashanah. For TBS families, there should be time to attend this cleanup after Religious School on the 21st. We hope the day is a meaningful way to send of 5786 and prepare for 5787! Contact Harry Waksberg, Director of Jewish Education, for more information.
Tashlich
Wednesday, September 24, 12 - 1pm — MacEachron Waterfront Park (100 River St, Hastings-On-Hudson)
At the beautiful Hastings waterfront, we’ll symbolically cast into the Hudson River everything from this past year that we’re ready to let go of. This is a family-friendly event.
Teen Tashlich Kayak Trip
Wednesday, September 24, 1:30-3:30pm - JFK Marina and Park (1 John F Kennedy Memorial Dr, Yonkers)
Teens: board a kayak, paddle out into the river, and symbolically cast into the Hudson everything from this past year that we’re ready to let go of. Click here to RSVP (required).
Sukkot Potluck
Friday, October 10, 6:30-8pm
Bring your favorite dish (vegetarian), and join us in the Sukkah for a festive celebration of Sukkot. Contact Harry Waksberg, Director of Jewish Education, for more information.
Young Family Shabbat: Simchat Torah
Friday, October 17, 5:45-7pm
Join us for singing, stories, community, celebration, and kid-friendly dinner, as we welcome Shabbat and celebrate the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. Intended for families with children in Grade 2 and younger.
People of the Book: A Celebration of Simchat Torah
Friday, October 17, 7:30-9pm
Simchat Torah is the holiday on which we celebrate the Jewish people’s love of books. Among our congregants at Temple Beth Shalom, we have several authors who have recently published acclaimed books. Come celebrate the holiday – and join our authors in conversation about their recent publications, and about why the Jewish people are called the People of the Book.
